Washington man allegedly raped woman in city

1 min read

A Washington man was arrested Sunday morning by Washington police after he allegedly raped a woman behind a West Chestnut Street business.

Christopher Holiday, 19, of 38 W. Walnut St., was charged with rape of a substantially impaired person because the alleged victim reportedly was under the influence of marijuana.

The woman told police she and Holiday took a walk and smoked marijuana Saturday night. She told police in exchange for the marijuana, she told Holiday they could go behind the business and have sex.

According to the woman, Holiday started taking off her clothing and the two began to have sex. But the woman said she told him to stop, and he refused, police said. She told police she tried to push him away and continued to tell him to stop, but he ignored her. The woman said when Holiday did stop, he told her not to tell anyone, “or else.”

He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for May 20 in Central Court.
