Mom charged with leaving baby in hot car while she drank

HOPWOOD, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania woman is jailed on charges she left her 1-year-old daughter in a hot car while she was inside a bar drinking with an elderly friend.

State police say both adults will face charges, but so far only 45-year-old Tammy Price, of Masontown, has been charged by troopers from the Uniontown barracks.

They say Price and a 72-year-old man left the child unattended while they went inside the 19th Hole Bar in South Union Township last Friday.

Police were called when someone saw the girl in the car. Troopers arrived to find the girl asleep, sweating and very warm — but otherwise unharmed.

Price’s Fayette County public defender didn’t immediately return a call for comment Wednesday.

She faces a preliminary hearing May 20 on child endangerment and drug paraphernalia charges.
