North Franklin to repair 20 roads
North Franklin Township will make another aggressive effort to repair crumbling local roads this summer.
Township supervisors on Tuesday awarded a $591,000 contract to Alex E. Paris Contracting of Atlasburg to pave 20 of some of the worst roads.
“Yes, this should catch us up,” township Supervisor Martha Ward said Wednesday.
The township also paved a number of roads last year following many years of the supervisors hearing complaints from residents about poor local road conditions. They were allowed to fall into disrepair over while the township paid down the debt on a large-scale project in which township roads were paved.
Paris was the lowest of four bids the supervisors received for this year’s work.
The 2015 project will repair Augusta, Grandview, Kadon, Oak, South Palm and Wilson streets. The others slated for improvement are: Franklin Terrace; Bellview, Iola, Mineola and Winona avenues; East Canyon, Roselawn, Hazelwood, Longview, Nakomis and Washington Crown Center drives; and Overlook, McElree and Cleveland roads.
