Traffic alerts
• A section of Route 50 (Avella Road) will be closed at the railroad crossing in Cross Creek Township, near the County Park Road, the state Department of Transportation announced. Work begins Monday and will continue until May 25.
The closure will be in place to allow Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway crews to replace tracks and roadway surface. A posted detour will be in place, using Route 231 to Route 844 to Jefferson Avenue to Route 18 (Henderson Avenue).
• Tree trimming will occur on a section of Route 1006 (Linden Road/Venetia Road/Finleyville Elrama Road/Rankintown Road/ Washington Avenue) between Toll 43 and Thomas Road through May 22. Single-lane traffic will be controlled by flaggers.
