Philly woman jailed on charges she dined and dashed eight times
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A Philadelphia woman has been jailed on charges she’s dined and dashed at eight city restaurants since February.
The exploits of 33-year-old Janeen Thomas have been chronicled by Philly Mag and WCAU-TV, which caught up with the woman after her latest arrest last week.
That’s when police say Thomas ran up a $54 tab for three Long Island iced teas and a meal at Vedge, a vegan restaurant. Police say Thomas went outside to smoke then walked away without paying the bill.
The manager was trying to get Thomas to pay the bill, but called police once she refused. The restaurant was willing to settle the issue there, but police weren’t when they recognized Thomas from a Philly Mag article earlier this month, citing her recent string of incidents.
Thomas’ public defender couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
