North Strabane Township police are investigating the theft of 19,000 feet of plastic tubing from the construction site at The Street at the Meadows on Adios Lane.

The tubing, valued at $5,000, is used for water pipes. A plumbing contractor told police that the when he left work on Friday, there were 20 spindles of the red and blue tubing but when he returned on Monday just two spindles were left.

The contractor’s Bobcat had its window ripped out when the emergency release handles were activated. Police believe the suspect attempted to use the equipment to move the materials and accidentally locked himself in the machine. The emergency release was used to escape.
