Fire damages country club
AMBRIDGE – Part of a country club collapsed as firefighters fought a fire in Western Pennsylvania.
Heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from the main clubhouse roof of Harmony Ridge Country Club in Ambridge, about 16 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
Fire officials said the blaze Monday morning was brought under control after about two hours. State fire marshals were called to investigate.
No injuries were reported.
The club is home to a golf course.
The building affected by the fire was used as an event venue and houses a pub, a banquet hall and ballroom. A separate building on the property that houses an ice cream shop and restrooms was not damaged.
