Weather tracking group seeking volunteers

1 min read

The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network is seeking volunteers of all ages to watch and report local weather conditions from their backyards. A training session for new volunteers is being held at 5 p.m. May 29 at the Washington County Courthouse Square Building, Room 104, 100 W. Beau Street.

The nonprofit group also teaches members how weather can affect and impact their daily lives.

Volunteers are asked to take measurement of any precipitation from a variety of locations. The collected data is then placed on their website, www.cocorahs.org.

“By using low-cost measurement tools, stressing training and education and utilizing an interactive website, our aim is to provide the highest quality data for natural resource, education and research applications,” Dave Alexander, Washington County coordinator, said.

CoCoRaHS is in all 50 states.
