The Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation recently awarded five scholarships to graduating seniors, one from each county school district.

The winners, who will each receive $2,000, all intend to pursue a career in health care.

The recipients are Reagan Rush from Jefferson Morgan High School, Renee Salai from West Greene High School, Abigail Shipley from Mapletown High School, Olivia Shriver from Central Greene High School and Madison Wilson from Carmichaels High School.

Rush plans to become a physician assistant at Seton Hill University; Salai is majoring in psychology at Washington & Jefferson College; Shipley plans to pursue a degree in biology at Waynesburg University; Shriver plans to enroll in the nursing program at Waynesburg University and Wilson plans to pursue a degree in biology at Seton Hill University.

This is the ninth consecutive year the foundation has awarded healthcare scholarships to graduating seniors from Greene County. In addition to funding various health care initiatives throughout the county, it also operates the Foundation for Wellness fitness facility on the first floor of the Southwest Regional Medical Center.

Typically donations made to the foundation are tax deductible.
