Vehicle crash: Matthew W. Henderson of Pleasant Hills refused treatment after his vehicle crashed into a utility pole on Euclid Avenue near First Street about 3:45 a.m. Friday, Canonsburg police said. He told police he reached down to get his cellphone.

Drug, driving charges: A Canonsburg man was placed in Washington County jail on three counts of possessing a controlled substance, two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, driving without a license, operating unsafe equipment and careless driving. Police said James Nelson, 41, of 401 Highfield Ave., Apt. 2, failed to stop Thursday for a Canonsburg police officer and nearly hit a car as threw narcotics out his window, then crashed into a vehicle stopped at Craighead and Cecil streets. He was arraigned by District Judge James Ellis, who set a $25,000 cash bond. Nelson has a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. June 5 before District Judge David Mark.

Golf clubs stolen: Robin Richards of 433 Ross St. reported a set of golf clubs valued at $2,000 were stolen from a locked vehicle Thursday, Chartiers police said.

Bad check charges: Augustin Scott, 49, no address provided, was arrested by township police after he allegedly walked into the Washington Financial Bank branch on Valley Brook Road about 2:15 p.m. Thursday and attempted to cash a falsified check for $1,260. Scott was charged with criminal attempt, theft by deception and false impression. Scott was arraigned Friday by District Judge James Ellis and was taken to Washington County jail on $2,500 bond. He has a preliminary hearing at 1:15 p.m. June 2 before Ellis.

Theft charge: Adam R. Clutter, 36, of 65 Gayle Drive, Washington, will be charged with felony retail theft for allegedly stealing items valued at $189.97 from Home Depot, Murtland Avenue, Thursday. He was placed in Washington County jail on an adult probation detainer.

Receiving charge: Rose Conklin, 35, of 244 Castle Road, Washington, was charged Friday by Washington police with receiving stolen property. She is accused of taking six copper coils from air conditioning units, two radiators and brass that was stolen April 10 from McKean Plumbing, 468 W. Chestnut St., and selling the items at a West Wylie scrapyard. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Loitering charges: Daniel C. Jordan, 35, of 807 Addison St., Washington, was charged Friday by Washington police with loitering and prowling at night and possessing instruments of a crime. Police said he was on a porch at 145 May Ave. in the early morning hours of April 21, carrying a black case containing a DeWalt drill. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
