Charleroi to graduate 104 Tuesday
Charleroi Area High School will hold commencement ceremonies for 104 graduates at 7 p.m. June 2 in the high school amphitheater.
Valedictorian is Laine Mosco and salutatorian is Rose Hawk. Both students, in addition to Jaron Andrechak and Abby Moffit, will speak on the topic, “Follow your passion.”
Mosco is the daughter of Ray and Tracy Mosco of Charleroi.
Mosco achieved honor roll every quarter of grades nine through 12 and was a Rensselaer and Bausch & Lomb Medal recipient. She received the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award, was selected for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association leadership conference and took first place in Future Business Leaders of America word processing at the state level. She was class executive vice president, Student Council president, school forum representative, National Honor Society secretary, FBLA president and a peer tutor. Mosco was on the homecoming and prom courts and participated in Relay for Life. She is employed by Gyro’s by George and will attend Penn State University to study biochemistry and molecular biology.
Hawk is the daughter of Julie and Doug Hawk of Charleroi.
Hawk achieved the Challenge Program Academic Achievement, Ed Sweadner and Best Advocate awards and Bronze and Silver Girl Scout awards. She was a member of National Honor Society, mock trials, Girl Scouts, marching band, Spanish club, county band, symphonic band and participated in school plays and musicals. She is employed by McDonald’s and will attend the University of Pittsburgh to study engineering.
