CNG refueling station opens in Bentleyville
Compressed natural gas is now available in Bentleyville.
Energy from US opened a CNG refueling station to the public Thursday at Big Jim’s Plaza, near the Holiday Inn Express and Best Western hotels off Route 917. Two pumps are open round-the-clock, credit card only.
At some point, this may be more than a CNG station. Judith Marody, general manager of Shale Media Group, said plans are for propane autogas to be available, but the station is not yet equipped for it.
Tejas Gosai, CEO of Shale Media Group, spearheaded the drive for this station. It is only the second CNG station in Washington County, the other being at Waste Management in Chartiers Township.
CNG is increasingly being used, in lieu of gasoline or diesel, by trucks operating in the oil and gas industry. And CNG is plentiful in Marcellus Shale.
The pumps not only opened Thursday, but were christened by a ceremonial ribbon-cutting that drew about 140 people.
