COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A family in Ohio is mourning for a toddler who drowned in a pond on the same day her mother gave birth to her brother.

Authorities in Marion County north of Columbus say 18-month-old Jaylynn Adamson was staying with a relative while her mom was at the hospital.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy says the little girl was found in the pond Friday morning. She was pronounced dead at Marion General Hospital where her mother was in labor.

A relative tells The Columbus Dispatch that the girl’s mother gave birth to a son later in the afternoon.

The sheriff’s office isn’t releasing who found the little girl in the pond or other details about the drowning.
