A New Freeport man was injured Saturday afternoon when he was ejected from his SUV in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Jackson Township.

James A. Thomas Jr. , 31, was driving west on Route 18 near Blackhouse Road when he lost control in a right hand curve and crashed into a guardrail about 3 p.m., state police said.

Police said Thomas’ SUV then went airborne over a guardrail and crashed into a tree, prompting him to be ejected 50 feet from the vehicle, police said. The SUV then hit an embankment and came to rest on its roof about 200 feet from the initial crash site, police said.

Thomas was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., for treatment. A hospital spokeswoman listed him in fair condition Monday morning.

Police said Thomas was speeding before the crash and troopers plan to issue him a traffic citation.
