Charges dropped in Canonsburg sword attack
Charges against a Canonsburg man accused of stabbing his friend with a sword last month were dismissed Wednesday when the alleged victim did not appear to testify.
Daniel W. Buretz, 55, of 14 E. Water St., had been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, simple assault and harassment for allegedly stabbing John W. Bell, 47, of Washington. Buretz was to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge David Mark after his original hearing scheduled for Oct. 21 was continued when Bell also did not show up for the proceeding.
