Fall foliage wreaths
Town and Country Garden Club member Kas Maddich presented the program “Fall Foliage Demonstration” at the club’s October meeting.
Choosing a base for the wreath – grapevine, Styrofoam or wire – Maddich chose fall foliage, such as: pampas grass, pinecones, leaves, teasel, cornflowers, black-eyed-Susan, goldenrod.
After creating the wreath, a demonstration was given on making a bow or adding other ornaments to complete the wreath. Thirty wreathes previously made by Maddich were displayed as directions were given for their creation.
A natural wreath consisted of dried material with leaves, weeds, flowers, grasses, acorns and pinecones coated with peanut butter and embedded with birdseed becomes a winter bird feeder.
Each member received a fall apple with a tag congratulating the club on its 64th Anniversary as the club was organized in October 1951.
