WG Lions recognize outstanding student
The West Greene Lions Club recently honored Dillon Shields, a senior at West Greene High School, as an outstanding student.
Shields, a son of Mark W. and Johnetta Shields, received the Lance Helphenstine Award in 2014 for the athlete who shows character, determination and desire. He also received the Athlete Scholar Award.
Shields participates in the Quarterback for Life mentoring program, is on the honor roll and is a nominee for the National Honor Society.
He has volunteered with West Greene Youth Baseball and the food bank.
Shields plans to attend college and major in athletic training and physical therapy to prepare for a career in physical therapy.
