WAYNESBURG – People will go nuts for this holiday raffle basket.

Waynesburg Lions Club, in its 30th year, is offering its “priciest basket” ever for its annual holiday Koeze nut and candy campaign, said Russell Hall, the club’s fundraising chairman.

An excited Hall announced the start of the campaign Thursday morning. Two Koeze gift baskets will be raffled to help the Lions Club support programs for the visually impaired, local student recognition, scholarships and other community programs.

The largest basket, appropriately named the Majestic Basket, is valued at $575 and includes 16 different types of Koeze treats.

The large basket includes goodies such as chocolate ornaments, chocolate peanut butter clusters, pistachios, almonds, cashew brittle with chocolate and more. Tickets for that raffle, which are available from Lions Club members, are $5 and include two numbers. The winning number is based on the Pennsylvania Lottery’s Daily Number drawing Dec. 19.

The Friends and Festivities basket, valued at $137.95, is on display at First Federal Savings and Loan on High Street in Waynesburg. The basket includes colossal cashews, mixed nuts with macadamia, milk chocolate, caramel and pecan turtles, chocolate dipped dried cherries along with other treats. Raffle tickets for this basket are $3 each or two for $5. The winning number will be drawn during the bank’s customer appreciation day Dec. 11.
