Robinson taps new supervisor
ROBINSON – The Robinson Township vacancy board appointed Regis Curtis to fill one of the three supervisor positions left vacant by Mark Brositz, who resigned in September. The 2-1 vote Friday appoints the 54-year-old Bulger man as supervisor.
Curtis beat two candidates – Dave Foley and Sean Kramer – for the position.
“I want to help our township by getting it into an orderly manner; get things running smoothly and get the township and residents on the same page,” Curtis said.
To get on the same page, Curtis said, residents should submit questions about agenda items a week before meetings so the board of supervisors can do adequate research and provide answers.
Supervisors Stephan Duran and Rodger Kendall, also members of the vacancy board, said any nominated candidate they reviewed would have served the township well.
Duran said he was impressed with Curtis’s long-term vision for the township.
His appointment lasts until Jan. 1, 2018. Duran said he looks forward to working with Curtis for the short time he’s around, because he’s on his way out. His last day as a sitting supervisor is Dec. 31. Mary G. Donaldson, a Democrat, beat the incumbent Republican by four votes, 191 to 187.
“That hurt a little bit.I lost my home (jurisdiction) around Robinson United Presbyterian Church … I was elected as the youngest serving supervisor in township history, and youngest chairman,” the 31-year-old said
“But, I’m Navy Reserves, I’ve got two farms to take care of; going to school for more engineering work. So I’ll be busy.”
