The South Strabane Township man arrested last week by Washington police after he allegedly tried to rob two businesses was charged Monday by North Franklin Township police with robbery and retail theft at a third location the same morning.

Mark Wayne Veshio, 54, of 1128 National Pike, Apt. 4, is accused of robbing the Valero (Sunshine Food Market) on West Chestnut Street just before 8 a.m. Friday after failed attempts to rob the Kwik Fill on East Maiden Street and Walgreens on Jefferson.

Police said he stole an undetermined amount of cash and Pall Mall cigarettes from the Valero.

Veshio was taken into custody at his residence Friday by city police. He was arraigned that night before District Judge Curtis Thompson on two counts of attempted robbery and placed in Washington County jail on $90,000 bond.

He will be arraigned later on the new charges before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
