CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) – A former Pennsylvania high school choral teacher will spend more than three years in prison for trying to meet a teenage girl for sex.

Forty-five-year-old Daniel S. McGarvey of Uniontown had pleaded guilty in April to travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. He was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Clarksburg.

U.S. Attorney William J. Ihelfeld II says in a news release that McGarvey traveled to Bridgeport in October 2014 expecting to meet a 15-year-old girl. The girl actually was a police detective who had corresponded online with McGarvey.

McGarvey formerly was a choral teacher in the Laurel Highlands School District near Uniontown.
