Millsboro man gets prison sentence
WAYNESBURG – A Millsboro man who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance, his second DUI offense in 10 years, was sentenced Friday to 15 to 36 months in prison by Senior Judge Hiram Carpenter III.
Keith Allen Walters, 44, of 223 Rices Landing Road, pleaded guilty to DUI, possession of a controlled substance, driving while his operating privileges were suspended or revoked and a summary traffic violation.
Walters was arrested March 29, 2014, following a traffic stop in Cumberland Township. A blood test indicated blood-alcohol content of 0.048 percent. It also indicated Walters was under the influence of Diazepam, Nordiazepam and Alprazolam. Walters also was found to be in possession of a bottle containing Valium.
In addition to the prison sentence, Walters was fined $2,600.
In another matter, Scott Dereck Boyer, 33, of 3 Pear St., Ellsworth, pleaded guilty before Carpenter to DUI and a summary traffic violation.
Arrested Dec. 16, 2014, Boyer refused a blood-alcohol test.
Boyer was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in jail and fined $1,050. His driver’s license will be suspended for a year.
