A North Strabane Township man was arrested Saturday night by township police after he allegedly assaulted his wife during a confrontation at their home.

Joseph Tristan Caddell, 38, of 516 Blossom Drive, is accused of assaulting 38-year-old Casey Caddell. Police were called about 6:40 p.m. to another home in the block after she showed up, claiming she was beaten by her intoxicated husband. Casey Caddell told police when she got home from work about 6 p.m., her husband was upset for some reason and accused her of lying to him.

Caddell reportedly beat his wife for about 30 minutes while the couple’s two young daughters, ages 2 and 3, watched him. She told police he reportedly strangled her to the point she could not breathe before throwing her to the floor. Casey Caddell said she was trying to give one of her daughters a bath when he allegedly came into the bathroom, grabbed her by the hair and pushed her into the bathtub. When she tried to flee, Caddell allegedly pushed her down the stairs, police said. She told police she ran to a neighbor’s home for safety.

Police said Casey Caddell had numerous cuts and bruises on her face and hands. Clumps of her hair also had been ripped out during the assault, police added.

Casey Caddell was taken to UPMC-Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. She was later released.

Joseph Caddell was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 straight bond. Caddell is scheduled for a Dec. 7 preliminary hearing before District Judge Jay Weller.
