West Greene Lions Club recently honored three West Greene High School seniors, Sarah Jones, Mikhayla Post and Tyler Whipkey, as outstanding students.

Jones, daughter of Kurt and Connie Jones of Holbrook, is president of Chemistry Club, vice president of Science Club, co-captain of the high school volleyball team and a member of National Honor Society and Spanish and International Club.

She served her community by participating in roadside cleanups and Earth Day tree planting. She received recognition for being second in class during her freshmen and sophomore years and first in class her junior year.

Jones plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh and major in biology and become a medical researcher.

Post, daughter of Josh and Melissa Gaso of Graysville, is a member of the cross country, basketball and track teams. She also is treasurer of Chemistry Club, secretary for the Class of 2016 and a member of Spanish Club, Science Club, Student Government Association and National Honor Society.

She received the 2015 Wendy’s High School Heisman award and also received academic honors.

She plans to attend Highpoint University and major in biochemistry to become an oncologist.

Whipkey, the son of Joseph and Stacey Whipkey of Graysville, is the woodwind captain of the marching and concert bands, treasurer for the Class of 2016 and is a member of Student Government Association, Chemistry Club, Engineering Club, Academic League and National Honor Society.

He plans to attend Waynesburg University and major in elementary/middle level education to become a teacher.
