MCDONALD – A Cecil Township house was destroyed Tuesday after a fire that started in the kitchen fully engulfed the home.

According to Debbie Chenoweth Kubiak and Dave Chenoweth, their uncle, Lloyd Rumbaugh, was heating up a meal in the kitchen of 44 Coleman Road and fell asleep. Kubiak said Rumbaugh’s dog woke him when the fire broke out.

Rumbaugh was taken to UPMC-Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh, with unknown injuries.

The fire broke out before 9 p.m. Fire departments from Midway and Cecil, Chartiers and Mt. Pleasant townships responded. The dog was rescued, but a cat died in the flames.
