Canton firefighters respond to two blazes; one destroys home
A house in the 400 block of Wayne Street was destroyed by a fire that began at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Canton Township fire Chief Dave Gump said. The structure was unoccupied. Two neighbors said no one had been living in the home for weeks.
Firefighters were at the scene for several hours, after having already fought another fire.
They were called shortly before 9 p.m. to 1849 Arlington Ave., where the porch of a home caught fire. Gump said there was moderate exterior damage to the home, but there were no injuries. The state police fire marshal is investigating.
Washington firefighters assisted on both fires.
