A Washington man is facing charges including robbery and harassment after allegedly taking jeans purchased for him by his grandmother and returning them for cash, South Strabane Township police said.

Danny McAnany, 24, of 324 Burton Ave., allegedly took by force the receipt and jeans worth $54 purchased for him Tuesday by his grandmother at Walmart, Trinity Point, and returned them for cash.

He then exited the store and began yelling at Margit McAnany and kicking her vehicle, causing nearly $1,000 in damage to its door and windshield, police said. Margit McAnany told police she didn’t trust her grandson enough to give him cash because he is a heroin addict, so she accompanied him to the store. McAnany faces additional charges of theft, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

He was arrested Wednesday and arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
