PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police say a woman found stabbed and bleeding outside a closed pizzeria has died.
The Allegheny County medical examiner says the victim is 28-year-old Margaret Recasens.
Police say officers and paramedics were called to the scene about 2:15 a.m. Saturday for a report of a woman lying on the sidewalk and bleeding.
Police first reported the woman had been shot, but later determined she had been stabbed. She was found near Anthony’s Pizza in Carrick, a neighborhood known for drug activity.
She was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital and pronounced dead.
An autopsy was scheduled later Saturday.
Police say a man was seen walking away from the area, but stopped short of naming him or saying whether they’ve charged a suspect.
