Peters Township police arrested a McMurray man after he allegedly beat his 76-year-old mother at their Sheffield Lane home last Wednesday morning.

Police Chief Harry Fruecht said David Agarwal, 45, of the 100 block of Sheffield Lane, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault and two counts of harassment, which involved shoving and kicking.

Police said his mother sustained a fractured right arm and fractured right pinky finger. It was not clear what caused the altercation between the two.

Agarwal was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller of Canonsburg, who ordered Agarwal jailed on $20,000 bond and evicted him from the residence.
