Donora man faces charges in fraud case
A Donora man has been charged with insurance fraud after an investigation by the attorney general’s office revealed he submitted fraudulent insurance policy applications in order to collect commission payments.
Percy E. Law III, 47, of 1324 Meldon Ave., Donora, was charged Aug. 28 with one count each of forgery, theft by deception, identity theft and insurance fraud.
An investigation revealed that Law, who worked as a licensed insurance agent for Monumental Life Insurance Co., allegedly submitted 16 fraudulent life insurance policy applications to his company for the purpose of collecting commission payments to which he was not entitled. The alleged fraud resulted in approximately $20,000 in commissions. It was also determined that Law illicitly used Social Security numbers belonging to individuals he had written valid insurance policies for in the past, investigators allege.
Law waived a preliminary hearing on Sept. 15. His formal arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 12.
