Man reports robbery bid

An Amity man told Washington police Thursday night that a man got into his car in the lot of the Alpine Club at 725 Jefferson Ave. and tried to rob him at gunpoint.

The victim told police he had just left bingo at the club about 10 p.m. and was sitting in his vehicle parked on the side of the building along Meadow Avenue when a slim white man jumped into the passenger side of his unlocked vehicle. The robber pointed a silver semi-automatic pistol at him and demanded money. The Amity man told the robber that he had no money and told him to get out of the car. The alleged victim yelled again, and the would-be robber got out of the car and ran in the direction of Factory Way.

The robber is white, 18 to 25 years old, about 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall.

, with a very slender build. He wore a blue hooded shirt with the hood pulled up tightly around his face.

Police searched the area but were not able to find the culprit.
