Waynesburg University’s Department of Fine Arts will host Noel Witts at the Goodwin Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Thursday as part of its Performing Arts Series. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. Witts, professor of performing arts at Leeds Beckett University in the United Kingdom, will perform a reading of the life and works of Dylan Thomas. The reading will incorporate Thomas’ poems and prose along with a discussion of his native city, Swansea, in Wales.
Town and Country Garden Club of Rices Landing will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Hewitt Presbyterian Church in Rices Landing. New members are welcome.
Country music will be featured at the New Freeport fire hall from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Cash Review, featuring Pennsylvania’s Man in Black, and Mark Austin will perform. Admission is $4. T

The monthly board of directors meeting of the Washington Health System-Greene Hospital Auxiliary will be held at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 13, in the fourth-floor conference room at the hospital.
The Morgan Township Society of Farm Women will meet at noon Oct. 14, in the home of Betty Hurd. Members are asked to bring a covered dish and two or three items for a kitchen basket. It is dues month. Roll call will be answered with a safety hint.
The Greene County Farm Women’s annual convention will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Chuck Wagon Restaurant in Carmichaels. Registration will be 9 to 10 a.m., with the convention starting at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $13. Those who plan to attend are asked to respond by Oct. 8 to Phyllis Thomas or Audrey Jacobs.
Trick or treat will be held in Monongahela Township from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Residents are asked to turn on a porch light. Treats also will be available at the township building during those hours.
