Ex-school board member’s child sex abuse conviction upheld
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A state appeals court has upheld the child sex abuse conviction of a former central Pennsylvania school board member.
Fifty-year-old Rodney Nissley of Hummelstown was sentenced to 10 to 20 years last year after a Dauphin County jury convicted the longtime Lower Dauphin School Board member of aggravated assault of a child and other counts.
A state Superior Court panel upheld the convictions last week, rejecting arguments that he was prevented from introducing evidence that would have cleared him.
The dispute hinged on semantics of an interview conducted with the 14-year-old girl at the Children’s Resource Center after she told a student guidance counselor in 2012 that she had been abused since she was 7 or 8 years old.
