Police: Officer fires at car in zoo parking lot disturbance
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a Pittsburgh police officer fired at a car that refused to stop after striking vehicles in the Pittsburgh Zoo parking lot, but no one was injured.
Public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said officers were called to the Pittsburgh Zoo parking lot just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, where the driver almost hit several officers and fled at a speed of at least 80 mph before she was stopped nearby. Toler says one officer fired as the car was heading toward him, but the driver wasn’t hit.
Twenty-two-year-old Brittany Alcorn of Greensburg is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, driving under the influence and fleeing and eluding.
Court documents don’t list an attorney who could respond to the charges; a listed number for Alcorn couldn’t be found.
