PITTSBURGH (AP) – A faculty committee that oversees honorary degrees will consider rescinding one the University of Pittsburgh issued to Bill Cosby in 2002.

University spokesman Ken Service says the item is on the committee’s agenda, though it’s not clear when the private group will meet to consider that and other business.

The student-run Pitt News raised the issue on Friday, prompting Pitt to become one of the latest schools to consider taking back a degree in the wake of continued allegations that Cosby drugged women to have sex with them. He’s never been criminally charged and has continued to deny those allegations.

A Cosby spokesman didn’t immediately comment on Pitt’s plans.

Cosby also received an honorary degree from another Pittsburgh school, Carnegie Mellon University, but officials there say they have no plans to rescind that degree “at this time.”
