Bad checks: Sharika Lynn Williams, 22, of Detroit, Mich., was charged Tuesday with theft by deception and bad checks after attempting to cash a fake check at two area Northwest Saving branches, Canonsburg police said. Williams was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in the county jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 28.

Liquor law violation alleged: Roy’s By The Tracks, 3710 Route 88, Finleyville, was cited by the state Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement Oct.5 for failing to comply with additional restrictions placed on its license in an agreement with the BLCE. The establishment could face fines, a license suspension or a license revocation when the matter is brought before an administrative law judge.

Missing jewelry: Michelle Siders of McGovern Road, Houston, reported several bracelets and rings missing from her aunt’s home in the 600 block of McGovern Road. Chartiers Township police are investigating.

Retail theft: Brandon Christopher Barnickel, 30, of 84 W. Wheeling Street, Washington, was charged Tuesday with retail theft, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after he allegedly stole a trail camera from Gander Mountain, 1500 W. Chestnut Street, Washington, and ran from the store, North Franklin Township police said. Barnickel was found in the woods behind Gander Mountain, according to police. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in the county jail on $25,000 bond.

Crash: Virginia Smail, 58, of Kingwood Drive, Venetia, lost control of her vehicle Wednesday and crashed into a pole, knocking it down in the 500 block of Church Hill Road in McMurray, police said. She was taken by ambulance to Canonsburg Hospital.

Specimen boxes missing: Seven empty specimen boxes were reported missing Tuesday from South Hills Dermatology on Waterdam Plaza Drive, police said.

Theft charge: Brian Vey, 23, of 279 E. McMurray Road, Canonsburg, has been charged with access device fraud, accused of stealing a purse with PNC Bank cards from First Lutheran Church on West Walnut Street on Sept. 27. Police said Vey confessed he made withdrawals totaling $1,000 to pay for a hotel room and heroin. Vey was placed in Washington County jail Tuesday.

Prostitution charge: Mary Elizabeth Cox, 33, of 766 Broad St., Washington, faces a charge of soliciting prostitution after two undercover state police troopers picked her up Aug. 18 on West Chestnut Street when they saw her walking alone. The troopers said they told Cox they were working in the area and were looking for some fun, to which Cox allegedly responded she could offer them sex at their hotel for $100. She is being charged by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
