Court cases
A number of criminal defendants pleaded guilty this week before Greene County President Judge Farley Toothman. They included:
Robert Eric Gibson, 45, of 146 Mitchell Drive, Canonsburg; offenses – driving under the influence of alcohol, second offense in 10 years and two summary violations; Gibson was arrested Dec. 4 after a single-vehicle crash; his blood-alcohol content was 0.219 percent; sentence – 5 years in the county intermediate punishment program, the first 90 days in house arrest, $1,550 in fines.
Susan Marie Mulholland, 49, of Pursglove, W.Va.; offenses – DUI and a summary offense; charges of endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person were withdrawn; Mulholland was stopped by police Oct. 25 in Mt. Morris, during trick or treat; she had a BAC of 0.189 percent; sentence – 72 hours to 2 years in jail, $1,050 in fines, 225 hours of community service.
Philip Thomas Winkler, 44, of 146 W. Franklin St., Waynesburg; offenses – harassment, a charge of simple assault was withdrawn; on July 22, Winkler pushed a woman into a door and the wall at his home; sentence – $300 fine.
Michael Wilson Bish, 36, 3267 Eastmont Ave., Pittsburgh; offenses – possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance; on Sept. 12, 2014, state police found Bish working at a farm on Pyle Road in Morgan Township at which 92 marijuana plants were being grown; sentence – 5 years in the county intermediate punishment program, with the first nine months in house arrest; $750 in fines, 300 hours of community service.
John Robert Kino Sr., 66, of 119 Highland Ave., Rices Landing, DUI, third offense; driving while his license is suspended for a previous DUI offense and four summary violations; arrested May 25, Kino had a BAC level of 0.121 percent; sentence – 5 years in the county intermediate punishment program, with the first six months of house arrest, $2,560 in fines.
Shawn Anthony Chesney, 19, of 84 Blackdog Hollow Road, Clarksville; offenses – attempted burglary, criminal mischief; on May 11, Chesney was caught attempting to break into Waynesburg Yamaha in Franklin Township; sentence – 3 days to 23 ½ months in jail, credit for three days served; $750 in fines, $185 in restitution.
Charles Geoffrey Douglas, 22, of 816 Lewis St., Brownsville; offense – possession of a controlled substance; Douglas was arrested Aug. 24, 2013 on Beagle Club Road in Jefferson Township and was in possession of crack cocaine; sentence – 1 year of probation, $300 fine, 50 hours of community service.
Dennis Robert Hayes Sr., 44, of 905 Sherman Ave., Waynesburg; offenses – simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, public drunkenness; on June 21, Hayes punched a woman in the face on Elm Street in Waynesburg; sentence – 30 days to 23 ½ months in jail, $200 fine.
John Patrick Stafford, 22, of 385 S. Moreland Ave., Bobtown; offense – theft; while employed at the BFS store in Mt. Morris in November and December, Stafford stole $2,045 from the cash register; sentence – 3 years of probation, $300 fine, 250 hours of community service; restitution.
Thomas Nicholas Jordan, 21, of 4861 N. Torch Road, Coolville, Ohio; offense – unsworn falsification to authorities; on May 28, 2014, Jordan attempted to buy two shotguns at the Walmart in Franklin Township and failed to indicate on the ATF form that he had earlier been convicted of a felony for failing to stop after an accident; sentence – $1,000 fine, 50 hours of community service.
Kyle Tracey Gray, 22, no address given; offenses – criminal trespass, attempted simple assault, harassment, theft, receiving stolen property; between April 23 and 25, Gray stole a vehicle from Ron Lewis Automotive in Franklin Township; May 11, he slashed a man with scissors during a fight; sentence – 5 months to 5 years in jail, credit for time served from May 22; $500 in fines, 325 hours of community service.
Robert Christopher Murphy, 21, of 272 Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris; offenses – possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia; on Aug. 21, 2013, Murphy was arrested in Waynesburg and was in possession of .02 grams of heroin, syringes and empty stamp bags; sentence – 2 years of probation, 125 hours of community service.
Anthony David Montgomery, 22, an inmate at SCI-Greene; offenses – assault by an inmate, aggravated harassment by a prisoner; on April 13, Montgomery threw a cup of urine on a corrections officer; sentence – 1 to 3 years in prison, concurrent to other sentences.
