EASTON (AP) – A man accused of driving while under the influence of synthetic marijuana and a heavy dose of cough syrup before a crash that killed two people has pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle charges.

Eighteen-year-old Brandon Creyer also pleaded guilty Friday in Northampton County Court to aggravated assault and driving under the influence. Prosecutors will recommend a prison term of eight to 16 years.

Police said Creyer was driving south on Route 145 in Lehigh Township in November 2014 when he rear-ended a pickup truck and then veered into another car head-on, killing 18-year-old Jacoby Hill and 36-year-old Jamie Crowley.

Creyer was 17 at the time and was initially charged in juvenile court but the case was moved after he was charged in a gunpoint robbery weeks after the crash.
