Civic club honors 2 seniors
Katlyn Allison and Baylee Ann Wydo, seniors at Carmichaels Area High School, were named girls of the month for September and October, respectively, by the Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club.
Allison, the daughter of Todd and Lisa Allison of Carmichaels, is a member of student council, SADD and the ski club and is secretary of the National Honor Society.
She is the 2015 Pennsylvania Bituminous Coal Queen, vice president of the senior class, a yearbook editor and editor for the school newspaper.
Allison is field commander and drum major for the marching band and a member of the concert band, chorus and ladies ensemble. She is an announcer and vocalist at various sporting events and pianist for graduation ceremonies.
Allison is a member of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels. She is a dancer at For the Love of Dance and studies tap, jazz, contemporary, ballet and pointe. She teaches tap class for beginners and works at the Carmichaels-Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Co. bingo.
Allison plans to attend college and major in biology with the aim of becoming a physical therapist.
Wydo, the daughter of Ed and Brandi Streit of Carmichaels and Chuck LaVerde of Graysville, is a member of the senior standing committee, student council and SADD.
She is a varsity cheerleader and a third year cosmetology student at the Greene County Career and Technology Center.
Wydo is cosmetology department treasurer, a Skills USA member and treasurer of the GCCTC Skills program. She will be a GCCTC Skills representative at the upcoming Skills conference in November at Seven Springs.
Wydo received a perfect attendance award and placed third in interview at the 2015 Skills USA District 9 competition.
Wydo volunteers with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Carmichaels Elementary Center career day and the Salvation Army. She provides cosmetology services for Ladies Night Out, Golden Living Center, Red Hat Ladies and at local health fairs.
Wydo is a dancer at The Tricia Ricco Dance Studio and works as a Greene County Parks and Recreation summer day camp supervisor and at Hungarian Smoke House in Carmichaels.
Wydo plans to attend The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and major in fashion merchandising.
