JOHNSTOWN (AP) – Pennsylvania prosecutors say a former detective and drug task force member tipped off a person involved in heroin trafficking about a looming investigation.

Justin Arcurio was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution. He’s free on $10,000 bail pending a December court date.

His lawyer didn’t return a message from the Altoona Mirror seeking comment.

Arcurio worked as a county drug task force investigator and a part-time Upper Yoder Township officer.

Cambria County District Attorney Kelly Callihan says Arcurio was fired in July after she learned he’d allegedly told the person involved in trafficking that investigators would soon find out about his activities.
