Lions Club names students of the month for October
Waynesburg Central High School seniors Jonathon Cogar and Jessie Belding were selected by the high school faculty as Waynesburg Lions Club’s students of the month for October.
Cogar, the son of Joseph and Lisa Cogar of Waynesburg, has a 3.87 grade-point average.
He is a member of National Honor Society and received highest honors in honors world cultures and in AP U.S. History.
Cogar is a three-year letterman in football and served as captain of the football team. He also was a member of Spanish Club and participated in library services and track.
His activities include membership in Christian Athletes and Varsity Club. He rings the kettle bell for Salvation Army and helped at Social Service League events and at fundraising events for the high school Relay for Life team.
He attends North Ten Mile Baptist Church.
Cogar plans to attend college and major in aerospace engineering.
Belding, the daughter of Lisa and Mike Belding of Waynesburg, has a 3.8 grade-point average.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, stage crew, Spanish Club, Youth Alive and Academic League.
Belding plays ice hockey with the Morgantown Blades. She is a letterman in varsity volleyball and varsity track. She participated in Penn Serve and Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week.
Belding attends First Church of the Nazarene in Waynesburg, is a member of the church youth group and participates in mission trips.
She plans to attend college and is undecided on a major.
