Charges pending against Washington woman
South Strabane Township police are looking for information on a 22-year-old Washington woman wanted for allegedly stealing more than $1,000 from an elderly resident.
Shannon Louise Hilbert also is wanted by East Washington police on charges of possession of heroin and paraphernalia, in addition to traffic violations, stemming from a May 12 traffic stop in the 10 block of South Wade Avenue. Hilbert is charged by South Strabane police with theft, identity theft and access device fraud.
Police obtained arrest warrants for her at the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Township police Sgt. Michael Manfredi, who filed both sets of charges against Hilbert, said she reportedly befriended an elderly resident of Thomas Campbell Apartments while working as a caregiver for another resident at the complex. The 80-year-old alleged victim notified police Oct. 10 after noticing unauthorized charges made with her bank debit card. The charges were reportedly made in September and early October.
“She volunteered to help the victim out and run errands for her,” Manfredi said. “As a result, Hilbert was able to obtain the woman’s personal information number and used the card numerous times without the victim’s knowledge.”
Manfredi said Hilbert withdrew money and used the card to make purchases in the Washington area.
Hilbert is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs 165 pounds and has brown hair and eyes. Anyone with information about Hilbert’s whereabouts is asked to call South Strabane police at 724-225-8111, or call 911.
