Teen ruled ‘adult’ in homicide, other decision delayed
BEDFORD (AP) – A judge said a 16-year-old charged in the drug-related killing of a Western Pennsylvania woman should be tried as an adult, but delayed a decision on his 17-year-old co-defendant.
That’s because Bedford County Judge Travis Livengood wants to hear from a psychological expert before determining whether 17-year-old Deauntay Moye, of Woodbury, will also be tried as an adult.
Moye and 16-year-old Ryan Hardwick, of Martinsburg, are charged with criminal homicide and other charges for allegedly shooting and robbing 21-year-old Stephanie Waters during a marijuana deal Jan. 8.
Bedford County prosecutors said the teens drove around smoking marijuana while she lay dying in the back seat.
They face preliminary hearings Sept. 30 and face life in prison if convicted as adults.
The judge ruled Monday on their adult status.
