• Action: As expected, the commissioners approved the stipulated final determination along with its fellow members of the Southwest Corner Workforce Investment Board and the state Department of Labor and Industry over questionable expenditures by the Washington-Greene Job Training Agency, reimbursing the state $77,481.
• Also as expected, the board approved the sale of two small parcels of land in Chartiers Township for a total of $12,850 to AA Investments, an affiliate of Washington Penn Plastic Co. Inc., which plans to obtain rail service. The sale excludes oil and gas reserves.
• The commissioners approved travel for Steven Tkach, director of court automation, to attend the National Court Technology Conference in Minneapolis later this month at an estimated cost of $1,750.
• The county ratified a lease with Huntington Farm, Larry Litman and Alvin Dinsmore for harvesting hay on a 25-acre tract in Cross Creek park. Huntington Farm will pay the county $20 per acre through July 31, 2016.
At the request of the finance department, the commissioners ratified an agreement with Domestic Violence Services, which will receive money directly from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The county is to receive $65,000 of the funding for prosecution and law enforcement.
At the request of the human services department, the Washington County Transportation Authority will receive a grant of $2,191,404 from state taxpayers through June 30, 2016, to manage the Medical Assistance Transportation Program, and Connect, Inc., will receive a total of $592,810 through April 30, 2016, to provide housing and supportive services to homeless individuals and families.
At the request of the juvenile probation office, the county agreed to purchase a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan costing $21,551 for use by the Leadership Enhanced Attitude Development Educational Rehabilitation program from McCall Motors of Ebensburg, Cambria County, through a state contract that does not require bidding.
