Attempted homicide conviction in shooting of elderly driver

1 min read

PITTSBURGH – A western Pennsylvania man has been convicted of attempted homicide in a shooting that critically injured a 92-year-old jitney driver two years ago.

Jason Haddock, 26, of Pittsburgh was convicted Friday in Allegheny County Court in a non-jury trial in the September 2013 shooting in the Homewood neighborhood.

Judge Philip Ignelzi also convicted him of aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license and several counts of reckless endangerment.

Police said another car pulled up to the jitney and opened fire. Two passengers weren’t injured.

Police said they believed the elderly driver wasn’t the intended target. The now-94-year-old victim has since recovered.

Haddock is set for sentencing Nov. 23.
