HEILWOOD (AP) – An autopsy is set on the body of a woman who was struck by a car along a rural Western Pennsylvania highway that fled the scene.

The Indiana County coroner said the victim is 45-year-old Leslie Bennett, of Clymer.

Authorities said she was walking along Route 553 in Cherryhill Township when she was hit from behind by a vehicle, possibly a red Ford pickup.

Police said that happened about 10:40 p.m. as Bennett was walking with her daughter, who wasn’t hurt. Bennett was flown to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, where she died Monday afternoon.

State troopers from the Indiana, Pa. barracks are investigating.

The autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
