Pittsburgh police: 6-year-old’s hand shot in hail of bullets

1 min read

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh police are looking for a gunman after a 6-year-old boy was shot in the hand in a hail of bullets fired at a crime-ridden public housing complex.

Police aren’t identifying the boy, but said he was in good condition at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC following Wednesday night’s shooting at Bedford Dwellings.

A 2-year-old child was fatally shot at the same complex last week. His stepfather is jailed on a criminal homicide charge, though he said the boy was shot accidentally when he tried to take a loaded pistol from the toddler.

Police said witnesses reported hearing four to five gunshots when the 6-year-old boy was wounded just after 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Nobody else was wounded and none of the witnesses saw the shooter.
