Former governor to give eulogy for memorial
PITTSBURGH – Former Gov. Tom Ridge will be among the speakers next week at a Pittsburgh memorial service for philanthropist and civic leader Elsie Hillman.
Former PNC Bank chairman and CEO James Rohr and former University of Pittsburgh chancellor Mark Nordenberg will also deliver eulogies at the Sept. 19 memorial.
Hillman died Aug. 4 at age 89.
A public memorial is being held at Calvary Episcopal Church, followed by a reception at the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History.
Hillman was the wife of billionaire industrialist and philanthropist Henry Hillman and a national Republican committeewoman.
She helped Ridge and former President George H.W. Bush’s political careers.
Hillman chaired the Elsie G. Hillman Foundation and was a trustee of the Hillman Family Foundations, which supported medical research, the arts and historic groups in Western Pennsylvania.
