Bentleyville interchange project to begin

1 min read

The Bentleyville interchange project on Interstate 70 will start soon, the state Department of Transportation announced. Currently, utility poles are being relocated on Wilson Road and Route 917 (Pittsburgh Road).

Beginning Monday, the contractor will begin widening Wilson Road. Motorists will experience single-lane flagging.

The project takes in Bentleyville, Somerset and Fallowfield townships. It includes safety improvements along the Interstate 70 corridor and encompasses two full interchanges, Ginger Hill and Bentleyville. It includes widening Interstate 70 to provide a wider median; lengthening and reconfiguring ramp acceleration and deceleration lanes; replacing the bridge carrying I-70 over Wilson Road, Pigeon Creek and Norfolk Southern Railroad; replacing the bridge carrying Route 917 over I-70; and secondary roadway improvements. The contractor on the $75.9 million project is Golden Triangle Construction Co. It is scheduled to be completed in December 2018.
