WARRINGTON, Pa. (AP) — Authorities in suburban Philadelphia say a man and woman and their two dogs were found dead of gunshot wounds in an apparent murder-suicide.

Police in Bucks County were sent to the Warrington home shortly before 11:30 a.m. Saturday after a concerned friend said she hadn’t talked to the woman for a few days.

Police said 56-year-old Mary Ellen Curry was found dead in the bathroom with gunshot wounds, at least one which was in her back.

They said 58-year-old Larry Rothenberger was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound in the bedroom.

Police said the mixed breed and Pomeranian dogs were found shot to death in the kitchen. Rothenberger’s 40-caliber handgun was found at the scene.

Sgt. Ken Hawthorn called it “an isolated family issue that ended tragically.”
